GREAT COMBINATIONS

Get those hair styles you've always wanted

Treasured Locks and Baka Beauty are happy to bring you, AfrolinTM Natural Hair Replacement Fiber.  Afrolin is made in the USA, exclusively for Treasured Locks by Baka  Beauty.  Afrolin is a natural fiber that is lightweight. It has a texture similar to the texture  of natural Afro textured hair.  Afrolin is perfect for protective hairstyles.  It's great for whether you want to add length to your already natural hair or are transitioning and want to keep the length you have with your relaxed hair.   Afrolin can be used to create beautiful hairstyles, for the entire family, in the comfort of your own home.  One of the biggest challenges of transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair is "How do I wear my hair in the meantime?".  Many women end up with braids or weaves during this time in an attempt to keep some length and protect their new growth.  However, those styles, if done incorrectly can damage your new growth.

Protect and extend your natural hair

AfrolinTM Natural Hair Replacement fiber is different than anything else on the market. Up until now you've had a choice of human hair or synthetic fibers.  The human hair sold in most locations is a very different texture than your own natural African hair.  Most of the human hair marketed to African-Americans is obtained from the East, where people have a different hair texture than ours.  Your other alternative has been a chemically created synthetic fiber.  This "hair" often tangles, is flammable and causes hairline loss and breakage, due to the texture of the product and the tension created installing it.  These problems defeat the purpose of having a protective hair style.  Afrolin is non-flammable, lightweight and provides fullness without adding weight.  Afrolin will protect your fragile edges which is why it's great for children.  Afrolin is created using all natural mohair and wool fibers.

I ordered one pack of the afrolin fiber hair but i am wondering how many packs are needed for styles such as senegalese twist or casama braids...I would like to use this exclusively if it works so well and looks so good...but I amtrying to see if it is economical enough to add to clients price...thank you!
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 21, 2012

Answer:
A single one pound package of Afrolin is sufficient to do a full head of medium size to thinner Senegalese Twists or Casamas Braids of average length. We are defining average as being up to up to shoulder length. If the Twists/Braids are thinner, you will use less Afrolin Hair Fiber. You are able to customize the width & length according to your needs.

For comparison, one one pound pack of Afrolin Hair is equivalent to 4 packs of human hair, although human hair available through most outlets is not normally used for these styles.

Longer(mid-back) or thicker Senegalese Twists/Casamas Braids will require more than one one pound pack of Afrolin Hair Fiber, as is required with any extension hair. If that is the case, the service should be priced according to braid time required and quantity of hair used.

Can this hair be used for fluffy/ puffy twist?
By Treasured Locks Staff on April 20, 2012

Answer:
If you're referring to corkscrew twists as pictured on our website under the Afrolin product, Afrolin is the best natural fiber for that style. Instructions on how to achieve the style are included on the YouTube video listed under the "Instructions" tab on the product page.

If i use this hair to do kinky twists, do i have to cut & tie the ends, or can i put rods on the ends (or braid them) and dip them in hot water?
By Treasured Locks Staff on April 23, 2012

Answer:
Afrolin is not synthetic hair. It is not finished by dipping in hot water. Afrolin ends are finished the same as you would human hair. However, Corkscrews a/k/a puffy twists must be either tied off or the ends wrapped...as demonstrated in the FREE "How To" video.

Do you have a video showing instructions on how to apply bantu knots, using afrolin natural hair replacement?

The instructional video we have shows techniques for:

Casama Braids and
Dread Extensions

We do not yet have a video showing how to do Bantu Knots with Afrolin.

How do I finish the ends of Afrolin styles? Do I tie them off? Burn them? Dip them in hot water?

By Treasured Locks Staff on April 26, 2012

Answer:
Afrolin ends are finished differently depending on the style. For styles with relatively thick ends, like Corkscrew (Puffy) Twists, the ends are tied off.

Medium and thinner ends can be "bumped" or curled with a hot curling iron, just like human hair. Also you can shed off the ends for a graduated thinner natural finish.

Third, you can do a slide down thin undetectable knot (this technique is shown in our video). You can finish the ends just like you would finish the ends of human hair extensions. The ends will hold better because Afrolin has a more natural textured feel and is not as slippery as human hair.

How often and how do I wash my hair with Afrolin extensions? How do I maintain my hair with Afrolin in it?
By Treasured Locks Staff on April 26, 2012

Answer:
Styles with medium (pinky finger) to thin braid type styles (individuals or Cornrows), can be shampooed & submerged in water, as often as you would normally shampoo human hair extensions.

Corkscrews & thick puffy twists, lasting up to 6 weeks, cannot be submerged in water & require
scalp cleansing with a cloth.

Organic Aloe Vera Gel or Treasured Locks Locks of Curls Pomade & Gel can be used on the Afrolin hair while styling and for maintenance to smooth the hair. Treasured Locks "African Argan Elixir", Baka Butter for Hair, Vitamist & more are all nourishing leave-ins for scalp & hair maintenance. Another real benefit, of Afrolin Hair, is Afrolin Hair Does "Not Dry-out" your Natural hair while in extensions and/or transitioning.

What lengths does Afrolin come in?
By Treasured Locks Staff on April 26, 2012

Answer:
Afrolin comes in a continuous roll and is cut to any length you desire and/or divided into the desired thickness. The 1/2 pound roll is 35 feet long. The 1 pound roll is 70 feet long. Both are 2 inches wide.

Can you flat iron the hair if needed?
By Treasured Locks Staff on April 27, 2012

Answer:
Afrolin is for braided and twisted styles only. It can be curled on the ends with hot curling irons. Afrolin cannot be flat ironed, combed or brushed. Flat irons can be used to "bump" the ends only.

Soft and Light
December 19, 2012
I used this hair to braid my daughter's hair. It looks the most like her natural hair than any other hair I've used. I wasn't sure what to do with the ends. I slightly bumped them with the flat iron. I was satisfied overall.
Merchant Response:
Please watch the video for how to tie the ends. Unlike artificial fibers, you cannot burn the ends of Afrolin.

Ranks Supreme
June 1, 2012
Baka Beautiful AFROLIN hair ranks supreme compared to other synthetic hair types for protective hairstyling. The hair fibers are soft enough to put in a baby’s hair. It is excellent for individuals with fragile edges; a stylist can gently add hair to a braid without worrying if the hair is going to break the client’s edges. In addition, AFROLIN is an brilliant tracer for braiding hair. It is softer than most human hair and you can verily notice that the fiber is in the braid. I recommend AFROLIN for anyone who wants to protect their hairline, decrease their breakage from braids, and who looking for a lighter, softer alternative to use for twist and braid extensions.

Glad I Found This Product!
January 23, 2014
I give it 5 stars! I used to use something similar years ago, then it disappeared. I searched the web recently and found this site. The outer box came securely sealed and the drawstring pouch containing the product was very nice. Made me feel like I had something special and the vendor cared and the price point was very good, affordable (don't go up lol!). I did my own senegalese twists and it handled extremely well and it's sooo light in my head. The tutorial was great! Picture quality, explanation, visuals and speed was wonderful. I ordered two cause I wasn't too sure how much I would need, but I had MORE than enough which is great cause I WILL be using it again for more styling, touch-ups, etc. I really loved that you could cut your own length and that it unrolls like a ball of yarn lol! which made manipulation easy. The only criticism I would have is the color. It's a little too dark for my hair and it only comes in two colors. Other than that, I love it!

Best natural braiding material
June 25, 2013
I had been looking for a long time for a natural braiding product that was very close to natural hair texture and Afrolin fits the bill. The product was very easy to use once I realized that it had to be handled gently when separating strands to avoid breakage. Convenient and efficient that you can cut whatever length you need. Only wish it came in more than two colors for optimal color matching.

I braided my daughter's hair using Afrolin and her hair was soft and light and it looked so natural just like her own hair. I was very satisfied except I wish the hair didn't break so easily.
