Baka Beauty was founded in 1987 by Brenda Searles. Brenda has traveled extensively in West, Central and North African since 1980. Her speaking of French and understanding of Arabic helped her to acquire knowledge about many herbs from the continent. The name Baka means "big tree with many branches". During her visit to the Congo, Ms. Searles, was inspired to name her braiding salons Baka Beautiful after having her hair done by a member of the Baka Tribe.
