I love this book. I originally purchased it for instruction on how to do styles on my daughter. I appreciate that I got more than what I came for. I not only learned how to successfully do two strand twists, comb her hair without damaging it, and how to make cleansing treatments at home. I also got insight and inspiration in getting over common issues associated with having kinky hair.

I must say I was very dissapointed with this book. I thought it would be full of hairstyles, hair care, etc. What it turned out to be is a book for women who are still not sure what they want to do with their hair. I have worn my hair natural for at least 6 years. I have had my hair locked for 2 and a half years. Therefore I do not need all the little work shops and quizes to ake up my mind. This is a wonderful book for other people, not so much for me. I will just pass it along to one of my family members who have not quite made up their mind to be their own natural self.

The book is large and easy to read but the content is not what I expected. The title suggests that the book helps you learn how to do your own hair. Instead, most of the book is about loving your hair and not being ashamed of wearing natural hairstyles. I jumped that hurdle back in the 60's. Before I buy another book, I would like to see excerpts or the table of contents. Also, I did not like the quizzes. Being asked to take a quiz felt childish.

We're sorry to see that you were disappointed with the book. We gave a detailed description including the table of contents and the fact that exercises are included in the book.
