Can I use Natural-Laxer MIX with along with henna coloring?
By Treasured Locks on August 23, 2011
Answer:Yes. Natural-Laxer MIX works great with henna coloring. The key is to remember the order. If you're going to use both on the same day, make sure you use the Natural-Laxer MIX before using the henna coloring.
If you're going to apply them on different days, make sure to wait at least one week after doing henna coloring to apply Natural-Laxer MIX.

Can I use the Natural-Laxer MIX and still press my hair?
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 4, 2012
Answer:Yes. Using Natural-Laxer MIX will mean you'll have to use less heat to get your hair straight and your hair will hold the press longer.
By Bess from Tamarac, Florida on May 13, 2012
Can you use this product and then use a keratin treatment over it? I have noriced that with keratin treatment roots do not get very straight on ethic hair so it's back to chemical straighting if we cannot come up with a viable solution.
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 14, 2012
Answer:We are not comfortable with giving advice to use the "Brazilian" keratin treatment. The treatment contains formaldehyde and we are not 100% certain how it works and what its long term effects on the hair will be.
Natural-Laxer MIX is a 100% chemical free alternative and we cannot advise to use it immediately prior to a keratin treatment. The results would be unpredictable. And, frankly we'd prefer not to have our product associated with any damage that might be caused short term or long term. Natural-Laxer MIX, on its own does not straighten hair, so it would not accomplish the goal of straightening your roots. We would guess the reason that the Brazilian Keratin treatment doesn't work well to straighten ethnic roots is it requires the use of heat to complete the straightening process and if you use a flat iron to straighten the hair, it's impossible to reach the roots.

How often do I use the product after the first 3 applications ?
By Treasured Locks Staff on September 21, 2011
Answer:We recommend doing an application every 4-8 weeks after the initial three applications. The product wears off slowly over time. It is slightly different for every person.
By Crystal from Needham, MA on September 20, 2011
Answer:Hi. After the first 3 applications you apply Natural-Laxer every 6-8 weeks similar to touch ups with relaxers. Hope you enjoy it! I'm on my second application - 3rd coming this weekend. It's funny because right after I rinse it out my hair is easily combed down to the scalp. But when it dries it's still very thick. I've air dried these past 2 times though. I'm thinking of buying a heat cap and trying it that way for the 3rd application. Good luck!
By Kristen from Quakertown, PA on September 20, 2011
Answer:I wasn't sure that I wanted to buy this product again, so I waited 8 weeks after my first application before I decided to finally buy it again. I used it yesterday, and I am SO pleased with the results. Now I will use it every 5 weeks instead of 8.
By Jackie from KY on September 20, 2011
Answer:I currently apply Natural Laxer Mix every 6 weeks. I've tried stretching to 8 weeks but get better results after 6.
By Marisa from , on September 21, 2011
Answer:I find that using it every three months works for me.
By Linda from Chicago, IL on September 20, 2011
How many times do I have to use it to get great results like the woman in the video? How many do I need 2 buy?
By Treasured Locks Staff on September 21, 2011
Answer:Everyone will get slightly different results with Natural-Laxer MIX- depending on your hair type mostly. To a lesser degree, how well you follow the directions in applying the product might impact your results.
It's not certain that you will get results just like Karen's. You should expect to see some results from the first application; more from the second and even more from the third. After the third application within a few week period, the results tend to plateau and applications after that are needed only for maintenance.
By Marisa from Brooklyn, NY on September 21, 2011
Answer:I used Natural - Laxer 2 times within a 2 week period and got great results. I decided to wear my hair in a natural 'fro. My hair is thick and course. Combing was a horror until I discovered this product.
By shelain Cooper from Beaumont,Texas on September 21, 2011
Answer:The first time I tried this product. I used it three times the first week. Than I used it; twice the second week. Now I use it once a week. I would buy two jars the first time you purchase this item. It really do work...Shelain Cooper
By Kristen from Quakertown, PA on September 21, 2011
Answer:I have thick hair that almost touches my collarbone when straight and it took me two jars per application, and I did three applications. So if your hair is like mine, it will take you six jars (which is expensive, but you will qualify for free shipping!)

My hair is natural, and I don't want to relax it again, those the natural hair relaxer straight the hair?or it make it soft and more manageable?
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 18, 2012
Answer:Natural-Laxer MIX, on its own, does not straighten hair. It makes it softer, more manageable, easier to comb and naturally and gradually elongates the natural curl pattern.
By TL Staff from West Chester, OH on September 26, 2011
I am transitioning and using Natural-Laxer MIX. Should I apply it on the already relaxed hair?
By Treasured Locks Staff on September 26, 2011
Answer:Natural-Laxer MIX is always applied to the entire length of the hair whether the hair is completely natural, completely relaxed or in transition. Natural-Laxer MIX benefits the relaxed hair and the natural hair. While transitioning, it reduces the difference in texture between the new growth and the relaxed hair, reducing breakage.
By Erica from Saint Matthews, South Carolina on May 18, 2012
I am currently in the transition process (haven't had a perm in 6 months) and am getting ready to take my micros out. I'm in a tug of war about whether to continue this process because I know my hair is going to be super thick and curly having gone so long without a relaxer. Would this product be a good one to use in the transition process between permed hair and natural hair?
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 18, 2012
Answer:Natural-Laxer MIX is fantastic for transitioning. That is one of its primary uses. It'll soften the new growth minimizing the texture difference between the new growth and the relaxed hair. This not only leads to a better appearance, it helps avoid the breakage often associated with transitioning.

I do not want to put a relaxer in my 6yr old hair. Could I use this product on her hair to manage it better?
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 24, 2012
Answer:Yes. That is is what Natural-Laxer MIX does best. It makes hair softer, more manageable and gradually elongates the natural curl pattern.
By Sharee from South Carolina on May 31, 2012
I have short hair and I am considering starting the natural process, my last relaxer was April 30, 2012. I've read most of the questions and responses, however; no one has asked this questions, how often can I wash my hair? and can I style it with straw sets, twists, etc.? and can I use other products on it, such as hawaiian silky?
By Treasured Locks Staff on June 1, 2012
Answer:After applying Natural-Laxer MIX you should continue to wash your hair as you normally would. You can style it in any style you were styling in before using the product. We're not familiar with Hawaiian Silky. Generally, if you apply a straightening product after applying Natural-Laxer MIX, the second product is going to negate the effect of the Natural-Laxer MIX.

If I use this, will I lose my curl pattern permanently? How long will it take it to revert? I more so just want looser curls
By Treasured Locks Staff on October 12, 2011
Answer:Natural-Laxer MIX loosens your natural curl pattern gently and temporarily. It will take 2-3 applications to get the maximum effect. The effect gradually wears off over a period of 4-8 weeks after which the product is applied again.

Can I use a hooded dryer instead of a heat cap for the natural-laxer process?
By Treasured Locks Staff on June 30, 2012
Answer:You can. But, it's not recommended. The intent of a dryer is to dry the hair out, removing moisture. Natural-Laxer MIX does best when used with moist heat like that generated from a heat cap which doesn't force air across the hair.
By Marianne Rodriguez from Hallandale, Fl on November 20, 2011
Can this natural-laxer mix be applied to dreadlocks to make them softer?
By Treasured Locks Staff on November 22, 2011
Answer:Yes. Natural-Laxer MIX works well with locks. Please see below for specific recommendations concerning Natural-Laxer MIX and locks.
If the locks are thin, Natural-Laxer MIX works well. However, if locks are thick formed locks, the Natural-Laxer MIX should be used in a thinner mixture. Add more water to make the paste thin.
Also thicker locks benefit from using Sahara Clay made into a thin liquid mixture(using hot water to dissolve it). Both Sahara Clay and Natural-Laxer MIX will deep cleanse. Natural-Laxer MIX will provide additional softness.
By Kell from Michigan on November 22, 2011
Answer:My hair isn't locked but I've used this product consistently for over two years on my natural hair and I have found that it makes my hair incredibly soft and more manageable. It has no chemicals, doesn't burn, and is a natural product. I've even recommended it to friends with relaxers to use as a deep conditioner. That being said, if the initial application directions were followed precisely and product maintenance was regularly done, I see no reason why this product wouldn't make locks softer, less dry, and the hair more manageable.
By MC from VA on November 22, 2011
Answer:I think this will make them softer. Just be sure to leave the conditioning cap on about an half hour longer...really depends on the texture of your hair, but whatever you would normally do, I'd suggest 30-45mins longer.
By Tonia from Hamburg,N.Y. on November 22, 2011
Answer:I have used Natural-Laxer on my natural hair and daughters hair as instructed. My daughter who has very thick and near waist lenght hair has become easier to comb. My hair which was short and damaged has grown tremendously since using this product. It has made my hair softer and easier to come. Although after the first usage my hair was drier, however, using the suggested tablespoon of olive oil and following up with a deep conditioner reversed the dryness. I do not wear dreadlocks, howerver since it is merely a natural hair style I believe that Natural-Laxer would soften dreadlocks as well.
By J from Valley Stream, NY on November 22, 2011
Answer:to be honest i'm not sure. it may help with your new growth but with your existing locks i guess it would depend on its thickness.
personally, i alternate between wearing boxed braids and pressing my hair. but when it is in braids i've never used this product when i wash because i don't think i would be able to rinse it out adequately on my own.
hope this helps.
By Ebele from Irving, TX on November 22, 2011
Answer:The aim of natural-laxer mix I believe is to make hair softer and loosen coils and it does a good job of if since I am still buying and using it. While it will soften your locks, it may also loosen your locks which I am not sure is what you want to aim for. Please note that this is my assumption. I am certain though it will help soften your locks.
By Sarah from Swannanoa, NC on November 22, 2011
Answer:I have been using natural laxer for over 3 years and I love it. However, I do not have dreads and honestly I can't imagine using this product with dreadlocks. The MIX can be incredibly drying to the hair even though it does soften and reduce frizz. In order to wash it out of the hair the hair must be WASHED -- with shampoo and sometimes twice -- just to get it out of the hair. Removing it with water is impossible. Finally, the hair needs to be combed once you are finished to remove tangles and product that has remained (and product does remain on the head). As someone with dreadlocks, I would imagine that you would want to avoid the washing and the combing so I would not advise using this product.
By O.B. from Texas on November 22, 2011
Answer:I love using natural-laxer, it softens my kinky type 4c – very tightly curled hair, and loosenes my curls considerably. You should keep this in mind before applying it to your hair, since your hair is locked. Yes it will make your hair very soft, but it might also loosen your locks and washing it out can be difficult to. I hope this helps.
By Sharon from Rockville, MD on November 24, 2011
Answer:this product works amazingly well at softening hair. I have used 4 applications on my dry kinky, coily hair. the natural laxer mix has now softened my hair so that it is so much easier to not only comb, but part in sections as well. I am sure you will find that this products would easily soften your dreadlocks

Is there a noticeable or significant difference in using rose water instead of tap. I'm ordering 4 jars and it would be too costly, in addtion with other products, to get 4 rose waters if not necessary for results. By the way, would purified or distilled water help in lieu of rose water?
By Treasured Locks Staff on August 7, 2012
Answer:Depending on your tap water, you may get better results with distilled water. Rose water is not only distilled, it has traces of rose oil which helps to soften the hair and provides a nice aroma. The rose water is recommended but it is not necessary.

Can this product be applied more than three weeks consecutively, or will that cause damage?
By Treasured Locks Staff on December 6, 2011
Answer:Natural-Laxer MIX can be applied more than three weeks consecutively. But, we don't recommend it. The product will reach its peak performance after about three applications. Applying more will not change the texture of the hair any further. After the first three applications, it's more economical and just as effective to wait a few weeks before the next application.

I am biracial (african american, mexican, native, irish). So, I have very thick curly hair (but not coarse, like african american hair). i know its somewhere between black hair and white hair. Is this product strong enough to relax my curls but not damage my hair?
By Treasured Locks Staff on August 21, 2012
Answer:The product will reduce any frizziness you may have, soften your hair and gently relax the curl pattern. It will not straighten your hair and it will not cause damage.

Can I use this product while I grow out my perm - curly, kinky hair? Will it damage or break off permed hair at the transition stage?
By Treasured Locks Staff on January 5, 2012

Can you use permanent hair color (Cream of Nature) with the natural-laxer on the same day??
By Treasured Locks Staff on February 9, 2012
Answer:The answer is yes, you can use a permanent chemical hair color on the same day as Natural-Laxer MIX. You would do the Natural-Laxer MIX first and apply the hair coloring after.
We hesitate to give this answer because any home chemical process could cause damage to the hair and if it's done on the same day as the Natural-Laxer MIX, that damage could be blamed on the use of Natural-Laxer MIX. The fact is the use of Natural-Laxer MIX after the permanent coloring will actually help condition the hair.
If you're going to apply Natural-Laxer MIX AFTER any chemical process, you should wait at least two washings between because the chemical residue could block the Natural-Laxer MIX and keep it from penetrating the hair shaft.

My hair grows differently in different areas of my head...it has a stronger curl in the back and more of a wave in the front. I'm trying to even this out...would you recommend that I use this product just on the back where the curl is the tightest...or all over?
By Treasured Locks Staff on February 15, 2012
Answer:Different hair textures on different parts of the head is quite common. We would recommend using Natural-Laxer MIX all over rather than trying to "spot" apply it.

Dear Treasured Locks,
I am considering purchasing your Naturalizer Mix (Natural Hair Relaxer), plus one professional heat cap and rose water to mix the Naturalaxer mix with. My question is, is the heat cap reusable? As I attempted to purchase more than one jar of Naturalaxer, I found at your site that the number of heat caps increased accordingly. Thank you for your time.
By Treasured Locks Staff on February 20, 2012
Answer:Yes, the heat cap is reusable, many, many times.
If you want to order multiple Natural-Laxer Mixes and one heat cap, please order one NL-MIX with the heat cap as an option. Add that to your cart. Then, go back and order as many more NL-Mixes as you like without the heat cap as an option. Or, just order the heat cap separately.
Adding an option to an item adds that option to each one of the original items ordered.

Is there any loss in effectiveness if I use aloe vera juice to mix the product?...also, same question, any issues using more than a tablespoon of oil in the mix?...I ask because aloe vera juice is more readily avail and because my hair is already dry so I use more oil to stave off additional drying...please advise...Thx !!!
By Treasured Locks Staff on March 19, 2012
Answer:We've never mixed the product using Aloe Vera juice. You say it's more readily available. More readily available than what? Natural-Laxer MIX can be mixed with tap water (as long as it's not hard water) or distilled water, available in any grocery store. We would not recommend mixing with Aloe Vera juice- just because it's unknown how it would react and water is readily available.
We do not recommend adding more than one tablespoon of oil in the MIX. Additional oil or moisturizer can always be put on your hair after the treatment. Adding more oil to the MIX could impact its effectiveness.
By Treasured Locks from West Chester, OH on March 19, 2012
Why don't you make the Natural-Laxer MIX in a larger jar? The two ounce jar isn't big enough for me.
By Treasured Locks Staff on March 19, 2012
Answer:This is a question we get fairly often. It might be the most asked question about Natural-Laxer MIX. The product gets great reviews and the majority of people are happy with it, including the size of the jar. However, for those who wonder why the jar isn't bigger, please read on.
Increasing the amount in the jar is something we have discussed with Baka Beauty, the manufacturer of the product. We have evaluated it several times. It really comes down to a price point issue. If we were to double the size of the jar, the retail price would essentially double. The jar, as it is, is enough for an average head of hair. If used properly, most people can get a complete application from one jar. Natural-Laxer MIX is used by many salon professionals. We have noted that salon professionals rarely suggest increasing the size of the jar. For those few people who need more we advise to buy two jars and use what they need from the second jar to make a complete application. If Baka Beauty were to increase the amount of product in each jar, the price would increase for every customer, including those who do not need more product. So, there is a trade off between increasing the price for everyone, including those who do not need it and having customers who need more buy a second jar. We feel it is better to keep the low price point allowing the majority of customers who only need one jar per application to buy the amount they need. We do offer a volume discount on purchases of three jars or more at a time.

I am currently transitioning from relaxed to natural. I do not want to permanently lose my curl pattern. Is the Natural-Laxer MIX similar to a relaxer where it will permanently change the structure of my hair? And do you only apply it to new growth, like a regular relaxer?
By Treasured Locks Staff on March 22, 2012
Answer:Natural-Laxer MIX gradually and temporarily loosens the curl pattern of your hair. It typically wears off in 6-8 weeks. You apply Natural-Laxer MIX to the entire head of hair every time- from the roots to the tips.

I have not put heat in my hair in over 12 years. I'm going to use the Diva Straight, but after reading someone's comments on how well the two worked together on her thinning hair I'm excited with the possibility that the two together might be just what I need. I want to get more in-put concerning getting my hair straight while looking full without putting chemicals in my thinning hair. Thanks everybody
By Sarah from Decatur, GA on April 9, 2012
Answer:Hi. I am the one who left the comment about both products complimenting one another. Please understand this, neither product is going to "straighten" your hair. They are all natural and therefore do not have the ability to change the chemical make up of the hair. What they will do is make the hair silkier and healthier with more bounce. The natural laxer will take away the frizz and the diva will seal in moisture. I hope that answered your question.
By Jennene Gregg from Richmond, VA on February 23, 2013
I'm really interested in purchasing this product, but I want to know why it has the be used every 4-6 weeks, sounds like a relaxer. Is this product only to loosen the curl product, how exactly does it work and why can't you use a few times and then that's it.
By Treasured Locks Staff on February 25, 2013
Answer:That is a great question. It gives us the opportunity to explain a major difference between Natural-Laxer MIX and a relaxer (perm).
A relaxer (perm) is applied every several weeks to the new growth only. Once the hair has been straightened with a relaxer, that hair is forever straight. New applications are to straighten hair that was not there when the relaxer was put in.
Natural-Laxer MIX does not chemically alter the structure of the hair. Its effect on the hair is temporary. Gradually, Natural-Laxer MIX wears off. To keep the benefits of Natural-Laxer MIX, it must be re-applied periodically. However, you can discontinue use at any time without any need to fear breaking or worrying about a transition period.
By Barbara from Fredeicksburg va on March 1, 2013
I have always heard that to make the hair straight or relax there would be some chemical. Whats in this product that makes the hair straight and hold th straightness/
By Treasured Locks Staff on March 4, 2013
Answer:Natural-Laxer MIX does not make hair straight. It temporarily, gradually, gently and naturally relaxes the natural curl pattern. Straightening the hair can be done with heat, after a Natural-Laxer MIX treatment. Natural-Laxer MIX will help prevent reversion, if you decide to wear your hair straight.
Natural-Laxer MIX contains a blends of herbs and clay.

Are these products permanent? I would like to straighten my hair without always having to use heat as well, but when I miss my kinky hair I would not want to have to start all over... how does this work? How long does it take to make your hair straight and how easy is it to go back?!?!?!?
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 1, 2012
Answer:The answer to all of your questions are included in the product description and in the other questions here. Please see those answers for more detail. The products are not permanent. They typically wear off in six to eight weeks. They do not straighten hair without the use of heat. They gradually, gently relax the natural curl pattern of your hair over the course of two to three applications.
