For
the absolutle best results, a four step process is recommended.
Not everyone is going to take the time to do all four steps. Following
these steps will give you a long lasting finish for the longest
possible time.
Step 1:
Prep the nail:
For best results, prep the nail using Seche Prep to remove any oil and
residue that may be present on the nail. This will give better
adhesion of the lacquer. If you don't want to get a special nail
prep product, use nail polish remover to get the nail clean before
applying the base coat.
Step 2:
Cuticle preparation-
the easiest way to push back the cuticles
is with a towel or a cuticle stick after you get out of the shower
while the cuticle is soft.
Step 3:
Choose your base coat-
the base coat gives your lacquer a good bond to the nail and keeps the
nail from being stained by highly pigmented polishes. A ridge
filling base coat will give you a smoother finish. You should be
able to apply the base coat in three smooth stripes from the nail bed
out to the nail tip. One down the center and one on each side.
Step 4:
Apply the lacquer or
color coat- only dip once for each nail. The wider the swath, the
better. Start down the center and repeat on each side. Do
all ten nails. Fan your hands through the air for a while to get
partial drying. Repeat for a second coat.
Step 5:
Apply the top coat.
The
top coat is extremely important.
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is the
best you can buy. A good top coat will penetrate the lacquer down
to the base coat, providing a single smooth strong coat of
polish. Apply over
wet
polish. It should be a thick coat. Make sure you have a
good bead at the end of the brush.
