Natural-Laxer MIX (Natural Hair Relaxer)

Baka Beauty Products International has brought an all natural herbal relaxer and hair treatment to the Western World. Before you order, please read what this "relaxer" is and what it is not.

We believe natural relaxers have gotten a bad rap for two reasons.

  1. There have been, and there are "natural relaxers" on the market that are not 100% natural and,
  2. there have been unrealistic expectations about what a natural relaxer could do.
Baka Beauty Products' Natural-Laxer MIX is 100% natural powder made entirely of sun dried exotic herbs and Sahara Clay hair leaving it silky smooth. The herbs used in the natural relaxer are completely natural and completely safe.  When mixed with the Sahara Clay in the Natural-Laxer MIX and hot water and applied to the hair and skin, it produces miraculous results.  This ancient herbal secret has been used dating back to the pharaohs.
Available now from Treasured Locks, Natural-Laxer MIX is an advanced spa treatment for your hair and skin that you apply yourself in the comfort of your own home. Each Natural-Laxer MIX is enough for approximately application for a "typical" head of hair, depending on the volume and length of your hair.

Natural-Laxer MIX is combined with warm water to produce a thin paste and spread through the entire head of hair. Rose water, available as an option, is even better.

Rose water provides:

  • Fool Proof Mixing- Rose Water and Natural-Laxer MIX are premeasured to ensure you get the right amounts of each
  • Consistent results- tap water varies from location-to-location. By using purified Rose Water, you ensure the best possible results from the Natural-Laxer MIX application. Hair and skin's natural radiance are enhanced.
  • Pleasant aroma- the Rose Water enhances the aroma of the Natural-Laxer MIX making for a more soothing spa experience.
Baka Beauty Rose Water is a natural by-product of the steam distillation of roses for rose essential oil, not water merely scented with rose fragrance oils.

For best results, a heated conditioning cap is also recommended. Detailed instructions are included with the product.

Ingredients a blend of carefully selected sun-dried herbs: myrtle, valerian, rose petals, red clover, fenugreek, nettle and sage mixed with pulverized unadulterated Sahara Clay

How to use:

To help moisturize dry hair, add 1 tablespoon olive oil to the Natural-Laxer Plus mixture after mixing as instructed below
  1. Mix Natural-Laxer MIX with 2 fluid ounces hot tap water or with pre-measured Baka Beauty Rose Water
  2. Smooth into paste
  3. Shampoo and towel dry hair
  4. Using a tint brush or hands with gloves, apply Natural-Laxer paste to hair from back to front
  5. Massage and smooth onto hair
  6. Apply plastic cap
  7. Apply Thermal Heat Cap on hot setting for 1 hour for natural hair, 30 minutes for permed hair
  8. If no heat cap is available, leave on for 90 minutes to 3 hours (or more)
    • Do not use hair dryer as heat source
  9. Rinse out with tepid water while adding shampoo- recommend Baka Shampoo for a gentle moisturizing shampoo
  10. Add more water and shampoo out remaining paste
  11. Instantly condition with Baka's Silk Protein Conditioner
  12. Add hair moisturizer
  13. Style
For initial best results, apply once/week for 3 weeks. Suggested maintenance- apply every 4 to 8 weeks.

Pleasantly Surprised!

I have more than 1 hair type. 4b in front and middle, 4a in the back I like the shine and silkiness of my hair after it dried. I mixed it with the rose water and a teaspoon of black Jamaican castor oil. I also didnt feel it was necessary to use the entire jar and my hair hits the bottom of my neck. I used a regular plastic cap for one hour. I will definitely order this product again..

I liked the results I received from the baka natural relaxer. My hair was soft well moisturized and clumped nicely for a cute wash and go. However as others have mentioned. The container size for the price is problematic. My natural hair is almost shoulder length and it's rather get coverage I'm comfortable with it would need to use 2-3 containers of this product.

This is a drying mixture and does best when hair oil drops are added with rose water. For a full head of hair like mine, more than 1 jar is needed per application which gets pretty costly.

First, Thanks again Treasured Locks for making products that work with my bi-racial curly hair. It has been a long journey to find you. I really appreciate that my natural curls are now something I can be proud to wear daily and easily managed! This product works great, and I love the fact that it is safe for the environment and my hair. I have applied this two different times and am getting ready to order an another one. My hair is so manageable now and I get so many positive comments about my curls. I am very pleased with this product and will continue to use it!

After trying many of the natural suggestions to soften my (none of which worked) I tried this product. I have used it twice my hair is easier to blow dry and the "kitchen" reverts less. Can't wait to use it for the third time. Used application one and two one week apart now onto application three. No my hair is not bone straight after blow drying it but after flat ironing it remains straight until I wash it.

After my matted hair was detangled, I decided that I needed to soften my curls enough to be able to manage them better, until I learn how to take care of natural hair. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that Treasured Locks carried a natural herbal relaxer that couldn't harm my damaged hair. My hair is super soft, and I did not expect it to soften my curls so well the first time. I still have a lot of texture and curls, so I will be buying more and more products to try. I am totally sold on these products. I am telling my family to give me money for my birthday, anniversary, and Christmas so that I can shop here.

I bought this for my daughter in hopes that it would loosen her curls. It didn't make a huge difference in relaxing her hair so much but what it did was make a huge difference in the frizz of her hair. Her hair looks so much healthier and it now only takes me 10 minutes to comb her hair when before ti was a 40 minute process. This was her first treatment and it states you have to do three once a week for best results so it may loosen the curl more after the next two treatments.

WOW! It Works on MY Hair
June 25, 2015
I have the thickest of thick hair. It was even resistant to chemical relaxers. I have been natural for 5 years and didn't think anything could help my tightly curled 100%African American hair. I resorted to hot combs for the old fashioned blow outs, but only in the fall bc I sweat in the summer and it would go back. We'll hello Natrulaxer! A miracle for my hair. My curl relaxed, my hair is healthier, getting stronger and growing like mad. My hair use to shrink from 8 inches to 1 inch after shampooing. Now, it just lays on my head waiting for me to command it! I will use this forever! Thanks....can you make it in bigger jars, my hair is dense and I use 2-3 jars per treatment (just asking :) ). Thanks again! Next order is on the way.

If this product is natural, why do we have to wear gloves to apply it? Will it burn on contact with skin? I want to use this on my 9 year old, but I do not want to use anything that could burn or damage her skin. Thanks!
1 Answers
The manufacturer suggested we add this caution for people who might have cracked skin on their hands and so that the product doesn't get underneath the fingernails. Frankly, we do not wear gloves when applying it and most people do not. The product is mild enough to be used on the face as a mask, so the issue is NOT with the product burning the skin.

Why don't you make the Natural-Laxer MIX in a larger jar? The two ounce jar isn't big enough for me.
3 Answers
This is a question we get fairly often. It might be the most asked question about Natural-Laxer MIX. The product gets great reviews and the majority of people are happy with it, including the size of the jar. However, for those who wonder why the jar isn't bigger, please read on. Increasing the amount in the jar is something we have discussed with Baka Beauty, the manufacturer of the product. We have evaluated it several times. It really comes down to a price point issue. If we were to double the size of the jar, the retail price would essentially double. The jar, as it is, is enough for an average head of hair. If used properly, most people can get a complete application from one jar. Natural-Laxer MIX is used by many salon professionals. We have noted that salon professionals rarely suggest increasing the size of the jar. For those few people who need more we advise to buy two jars and use what they need from the second jar to make a complete application. If Baka Beauty were to increase the amount of product in each jar, the price would increase for every customer, including those who do not need more product. So, there is a trade off between increasing the price for everyone, including those who do not need it and having customers who need more buy a second jar. We feel it is better to keep the low price point allowing the majority of customers who only need one jar per application to buy the amount they need. We do offer a volume discount on purchases of three jars or more at a time.
Treasured Locks Staff
on March 19, 2012
That answer doesn't make much sense. What do you mean by some people don't need that much? If there is any left over, all they have to do is keep it for the next application. It is dry, powdered clay - it won't go bad. You really need to sell this product in BULK. My thick type 4 head of hair needs at least two full jars and multiple applications for any effect. When you speak of the average head of hair, you must think that the average head of hair is type 3 and neck-length.
on May 19, 2017
from Kingston, Jamaica
We do appreciate the feedback. To reiterate, we offer free shipping on multiple jars and we offer a volume discount on purchases of multiple jars. To double the size of the jar, we would have to increase the price point, which would prevent a lot of first time users from buying the product. Making a larger package as well as the original size is not practical for us at this point in time. The "average head of hair" we speak of is not a scientific claim since we have not actually measured enough heads of hair to make that claim. But, in the many years we have been selling the product, and in our personal experience, most people are happy with the amount of the product for their hair. People with very thick and/or very long hair will require more than once jar.

Can this natural-laxer mix be applied to dreadlocks to make them softer?
10 Answers
Yes. Natural-Laxer MIX works well with locks. Please see below for specific recommendations concerning Natural-Laxer MIX and locks. If the locks are thin, Natural-Laxer MIX works well. However, if locks are thick formed locks, the Natural-Laxer MIX should be used in a thinner mixture. Add more water to make the paste thin. Also thicker locks benefit from using Sahara Clay made into a thin liquid mixture(using hot water to dissolve it). Both Sahara Clay and Natural-Laxer MIX will deep cleanse. Natural-Laxer MIX will provide additional softness.

My hair isn't locked but I've used this product consistently for over two years on my natural hair and I have found that it makes my hair incredibly soft and more manageable. It has no chemicals, doesn't burn, and is a natural product. I've even recommended it to friends with relaxers to use as a deep conditioner. That being said, if the initial application directions were followed precisely and product maintenance was regularly done, I see no reason why this product wouldn't make locks softer, less dry, and the hair more manageable.

I think this will make them softer. Just be sure to leave the conditioning cap on about an half hour longer...really depends on the texture of your hair, but whatever you would normally do, I'd suggest 30-45mins longer.

I have used Natural-Laxer on my natural hair and daughters hair as instructed. My daughter who has very thick and near waist lenght hair has become easier to comb. My hair which was short and damaged has grown tremendously since using this product. It has made my hair softer and easier to come. Although after the first usage my hair was drier, however, using the suggested tablespoon of olive oil and following up with a deep conditioner reversed the dryness. I do not wear dreadlocks, howerver since it is merely a natural hair style I believe that Natural-Laxer would soften dreadlocks as well.

to be honest i'm not sure. it may help with your new growth but with your existing locks i guess it would depend on its thickness. personally, i alternate between wearing boxed braids and pressing my hair. but when it is in braids i've never used this product when i wash because i don't think i would be able to rinse it out adequately on my own. hope this helps.

The aim of natural-laxer mix I believe is to make hair softer and loosen coils and it does a good job of if since I am still buying and using it. While it will soften your locks, it may also loosen your locks which I am not sure is what you want to aim for. Please note that this is my assumption. I am certain though it will help soften your locks.

I have been using natural laxer for over 3 years and I love it. However, I do not have dreads and honestly I can't imagine using this product with dreadlocks. The MIX can be incredibly drying to the hair even though it does soften and reduce frizz. In order to wash it out of the hair the hair must be WASHED -- with shampoo and sometimes twice -- just to get it out of the hair. Removing it with water is impossible. Finally, the hair needs to be combed once you are finished to remove tangles and product that has remained (and product does remain on the head). As someone with dreadlocks, I would imagine that you would want to avoid the washing and the combing so I would not advise using this product.

I love using natural-laxer, it softens my kinky type 4c – very tightly curled hair, and loosenes my curls considerably. You should keep this in mind before applying it to your hair, since your hair is locked. Yes it will make your hair very soft, but it might also loosen your locks and washing it out can be difficult to. I hope this helps.

this product works amazingly well at softening hair. I have used 4 applications on my dry kinky, coily hair. the natural laxer mix has now softened my hair so that it is so much easier to not only comb, but part in sections as well. I am sure you will find that this products would easily soften your dreadlocks

Sure. There are actually even better oils. We sell some combinations that include shea oil, jojoba oil, emu oil, argan oil, etc. Olive oil is very common and easy to obtain, but any good oil- usually plant based, with one exception being emu oil, will do.

This is my first time hearing about this product. I was all natural about a year and a half ago. However, it became very painful and expensive to try to keep my hair straightened without a relaxer. I would love to go natural again now that I am hearing about your product. I need to know how can I do it. I actually just relaxed my hair yesterday. Do I have to wait until I need a touch-up or cut my hair completely short, then start from scratch?
1 Answers
Keeping your hair straightened without a relaxer can eventually cause as much damage as a relaxer, and as you mentioned is also difficult to do. You can use the Natural-Laxer MIX on relaxed or natural hair, but please keep in mind it is NOT a straightener. It makes the hair more manageable, but it's not a substitute for a chemical relaxer.

The product will gradually and gently soften the natural curl pattern. It typically takes three applications to get the full effect. After that, each application typically lasts 6-8 weeks and will gradually wear off. There is no possibility of over-processing so, it can be used more often if you like.

Natural-Laxer MIX works best with distilled water. The Rose Water we sell also adds a nice fragrance to it. Tap water is acceptable as long as it's not hard water. The shampoo and conditioner from Baka ensure the best results, however they are not required. Any good shampoo and conditioner will also work and could provide just as good results.

This is a great question. The three jars weekly is just a "quick start" suggestion. It's not necessary to do three applications back to back, but for people who want the maximum effect the quickest, that is the way to get it. You can either do that process again or simply apply every three to six weeks. Either way is fine.

Yes and yes. The product is 100% natural. It works by gently and gradually loosening your natural curl pattern leaving your hair as healthy or healthier than it was before. It is a temporary effect that wears off over the course of several weeks. You can maintain your natural afro-centric styling or you can temporarily straighten.

To make sure the relaxer can penetrate the hair shaft, you want to wait a few weeks or several washings after applying Natural-Laxer MIX. Natural-Laxer MIX is chemical free, so there is no danger of interaction of chemicals, but Natural-Laxer MIX coats the hair and might interfere with the uptake of the relaxer.

I'm really interested in purchasing this product, but I want to know why it has the be used every 4-6 weeks, sounds like a relaxer. Is this product only to loosen the curl product, how exactly does it work and why can't you use a few times and then that's it.
1 Answers
That is a great question. It gives us the opportunity to explain a major difference between Natural-Laxer MIX and a relaxer (perm). A relaxer (perm) is applied every several weeks to the new growth only. Once the hair has been straightened with a relaxer, that hair is forever straight. New applications are to straighten hair that was not there when the relaxer was put in. Natural-Laxer MIX does not chemically alter the structure of the hair. Its effect on the hair is temporary. Gradually, Natural-Laxer MIX wears off. To keep the benefits of Natural-Laxer MIX, it must be re-applied periodically. However, you can discontinue use at any time without any need to fear breaking or worrying about a transition period.

You can. But, it's not recommended. The intent of a dryer is to dry the hair out, removing moisture. Natural-Laxer MIX does best when used with moist heat like that generated from a heat cap which doesn't force air across the hair.
