While nothing can give you instantly longer hair, there are ways to maximize the amount of hair you have. By keeping your scalp healthy, maintaining the proper moisture and oil balance on your hair and getting the proper nutrition, you can make sure your hair grows at its maximum rate and does not break off. This is the secret to long and strong hair.
Treasured Locks H2G Hair Growth Serum is a blend of all natural ingredients scientifically proven to promote longer, healthier hair. Made from the highest quality Emu oil (AEA food grade certified), naturally extracted carrier oils and a proprietary blend of the finest quality, steam-distilled essential oils, our serum is unlike any other on the market. Emu oil and essential oils have been independently tested and shown to reduce inflammation, increase circulation and improve the growth phase of the hair life cycle.
How it works
On a normal head of hair there are roughly 100,000 strands of hair, each going through its own cycle. Hair grows (anagen phase- lasts about 4 years), hair rests (catagen phase- hair follicle regresses) and hair sheds (telogen) phase. Normally about 90% of hair follicles are in the anagen phase. But, the average person sheds about 50-60 hairs per day. Normal hair grows at a rate of about 1/2 inch per month. But, this varies by person (genetics). Hair growth is also effected by nutrition, stress levels, moisture, heat and oil balance. Proper treatment of the hair and scalp along with proper nutrition will allow you to reach your maximum potential hair growth.
Studies have shown that Emu oil penetrates through several layers of the dermis, nourishing the skin and accelerating growth. Emu oil has been shown to help promote the growth cycle of hair follicles and greatly reduces inflammation, which many doctors believe is a factor in hair loss. Emu oil is similar in fatty acid composition to human skin. This makes it non-comedogenic (non pore clogging) and allows it to easily penetrate the skin.
A double-blind study has been shown that a blend of essential oils can provide significantly faster and better hair growth than just carrier oils alone. The growth was seen with no side effects that are possible with drugs such as steroids which are commonly used to treat alopecia (hair loss).
Our serum is also beneficial for mild skin irritations such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.
Please keep in mind that certain medical conditions will cause hair loss and that we make no medical claims concerning any of our products.

There are so many products out there that claim to moisturize hair but I will stick with the oils. Which is best to moisturize natural hair? Shea, emu, argan, coconut, jojoba, olive or castor oil? I have 4b hair and I am confused.
By Treasured Locks Staff on May 17, 2012
Answer:It is confusing. Let's narrow it down to three choices for you. We like to combine the best of all worlds in our products:
Treasured Locks H2G Hair Growth Serum- contains Emu oil, Shea oil and Jojoba oil along with some great essential oils to stimulate the scalp
Treasured Locks Hair & Scalp Elixir- contain Shea oil, Castor oil, Olive oil, Jojoba oil and others that are wonderful for the hair and scalp. The key difference between this and H2G Hair Growth Serum is the Hair & Scalp Elixir does not contain emu oil, making it less expensive.
Treasured Locks African Argan Oil Elixir- contains Argan oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Jojoba oil.
You can't go wrong with any of the above three. All have multiple beneficial plant oils and all will improve your hair and scalp's health.

Answer:Good moisturizers will not contain cheap, filler ingredients like petrolatum, mineral oil, or lanolin. Avoid products that claim moisturizing benefits and contain these ingredients. There is nothing moisturizing about them! Petrolatum and mineral oil are sealants that seal out the precious moisture our hair needs.
Sealing in your Moisturizers:
Our hair naturally contains moisture, but because our hair is also naturally porous, keeping the moisture inside is a difficult task. Providing additional sources of outside moisture, or external moisture supplementation, is a must for black hair care. Water molecules and moisture from these supplemental moisturizing products easily pass into the hair shaft, but they pass out just as easily. The moisture you apply needs to held in by something. Oil.
Natural oils like jojoba, olive, carrot, or coconut oil seem to work best.
A light coating of oil after your daily moisturizer will help seal the moisture inside. Oils are made of large molecules. These molecules are too large to absorbed by the hair strand. Applying oils to the hair and scalp will coat them and trap the moisture that is inside on the inside and the moisture that is outside on the outside. The key is to use the oil to "lock in the moisture." If you use oils without a moisturizer or before one, the oil will seal the moisture out of the hair strand and lead to a coated feel and eventual dryness. This technique of moisturizing and sealing has really been helpful to me and is a resonating hallmark of my regimen. Fighting hair breakage and achieving moisturizing success is all in the order in which you apply your products.

Does this serum contain nut products? I am depserately trying to get my 2 year old daughter's hair to grow. She has very full hair at the top of her head, but the sides and the back are very thing and brittle. I have been looking for a natural product for her, but she has allergies to nuts and fish, which eliminates many of my choices, as many natural hair products contain almond (or some other type of nut) oil in its ingredients. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
By Treasured Locks Staff on October 12, 2011
Answer:Yes, anything that contains shea oil or shea butter contains a nut product as shea butter is extracted from the shea nut which is a tree nut.
All of our hair elixirs contain either shea oil or sweet almond oil.

Is it normal for it to settle and thicken after a couple of weeks? It has turned into kind of a milky color that doesn't exactly disappear when I shake it. Am I suppose to warm it prior to use or could this be a bad batch?
By Treasured Locks Staff on October 19, 2011
Answer:Yes, it's very normal for the product to get cloudy and for that cloud to settle near the bottom of the bottle. The cloudiness is from the emu oil we use which is semi-solid at room temperature. In very warm conditions, the solid particles will become liquid. At normal room conditions, the product will be cloudy. The emu oil will melt below your body temperature.
Shaking the product before using and rubbing it in your hands before applying to the hair will disperse and melt the solid particles. We sometimes will pop ours into the microwave for a few seconds to get it to go all nice and golden colored and clear. But, as soon as it gets back to room temperature, the particles solidify again. It's not a problem, just the nature of the product.

My hair has broken off drastically at the temple and top, due to pulling it back into a pony tail. Due to my busy work schedule, I don't have time to fuss with it. I often wear wigs or hair pieces to cover up the flaws. Would it be too much if I were to use the serum AND take the H2G Hair Growth supplements? Hate wearing articial hair!

Will the product just work for African Americans or will it also work on Indians?l am interested in trying it but am from India so am a bit hesitant. Please answer.Thanks.
By Treasured Locks Staff on November 26, 2012
Answer:People with oily scalps and fine hair will probably not want to use it as it is a blend of oils and those hair types are typically trying to remove oil from their hair and scalps. However, most ethnic hair types will handle it very well.
